How to use your Guide for Choosing Wine
If you haven't already, you can get your free PDF Guide to Choosing Wine in Australia - just click on the link at the bottom of this page.
When using the guide, start at the top by deciding the wine style you feel like (full-bodied, light and refreshing, red, white, sparkling, fortified, etc)
From there, choose a variety you prefer (Pinot Gris, Shiraz, Pinot Noir)
The guide will then list the best grape-growing regions for that variety or style of wine.
Have a look at the wines of the style or variety you are after (for example, a Chardonnay) in your price bracket (let’s say, $15 - $25 in bottle shop prices).
Check the Wine Wisdom guide for recommended regions that match that style or variety.
Choose a wine from one of those regions (for example, a $17 Chardonnay from Margaret River)
That’s it! You have now vastly increased your chances of getting not only a great tasting wine, but also a great value wine.
A large part of the guesswork has been removed and your decision-making has been simplified.
Of course there are other clues that you can look for when choosing wine that you can read about here, but the guide will give you a good start in an easy-to-reference format.
I hope you get plenty of value from using the guide. You can print it on a double-sided A4 sheet or save it in your phone, tablet or computer for future reference.
